Kobe vs shaq who is better
However, sometimes we get an outlier. Kobe Bryant. Kobe said that if Shaq would have worked harder, then he Kobe would have won twelve rings. Had they gotten along, they may very well have won twelve championships.
However, they did great as it is—a 3-peat and dominating the league. But make no mistake about it: Kobe was unhappy with Shaq. He voiced that opinion publicly and threatened to leave LA because of it. Bryant prevailed in this Game of Chicken. Shaq was shipped to Miami. Shaq, dominant in the paint, had trouble hitting free throws consistently. But which player has the greater impact? It's time to find out. This one is close because Shaq in his prime was simply unstoppable.
In fact, he might have had one of the most dominant runs in NBA history. Over his career, Shaq averaged O'Neal was a force inside thanks to his size and strength and had a career-high average of O'Neal was bigger than every player on the court and basically forced his way to the line if he didn't score with ease. Unfortunately for him, he was a very poor FT shooter and shot But Kobe Bryant was a professional scorer of the higher-order.
Perhaps other than Michael Jordan, nobody had a better skillset than Kobe at scoring the ball. He averaged He even managed to drop 81 points in a single game, and simply could not be stopped when he was on fire and was the master at the mid-range game and on the block. Kobe was clearly a better athlete in terms of speed and vertical, but Shaq's physical abilities allowed him to impact the game more than Kobe's.
Kobe relied on his skillet to dominate the game, whereas Shaq's size gave him the edge every single night. O'Neal literally would flush the ball through the rim at times, overpowering every defender as if they were rag dolls. Nobody had his size, but he was surprisingly quick and explosive for such a large person. O'Neal had the physical ability to completely change the game, and there is no wonder why the rules are changed in Shaq's favor.
Shaq was never much of a defender as he got older and truly should have averaged more blocked shots because he was so large. Still, he could be a force on that end in his prime and his presence altered shots because running into Shaq was running into a brick wall.
But Kobe was a better defensive player. I think people might look back at Kobes career as being better just because its easy to say Shaq just used his size to bully people not the case still. But Shaq is ultimate all-time number 1 option in a good offence. As said above, the question could be "Knowing what we know now,who do you draft? A dominant big on both ends is the best base for a team imo. So nobody cares that Shaq was swept out if the playiff 5 times when he was the number 1 option?
Not really. One time was his 2nd year in the league. And the next sweep was against the greatest team in history, the Bulls. Shaq was a huge mismatch for his team just about every time he played when healthy. Kobe has had a nice career but much of that was due to being on the Lakers and their ability to draw top players to L.
I would say Shaq is in the same level of Magic, Bird and Wilt. Anyone of these four would not be a bad choice to be in the Top5 and are sure to be in a Top To be honest, everyone is always putting in Russell and Wilt in an all-time top 5. Really not enough. But the game has evolved so much since then, that I find it hard to make a proper call on where to place them on a top 10 list.
Who cares what GM would draft who…..? Not singling anybody out…. You must be logged in to reply to this topic. Forgot your password? Lost your password? Please enter your email address.
