How old is filip kostovich
But for the five young Aucklanders that make up the soaring pop-rock outfit The Earlybirds , this troubling emotion was not something to run away from. Instead it was something they felt needed to be confronted head on, dealt with and then ultimately overcome. We started when we were quite young and at first it was very intimidating going on stage and always having older people watching and criticising us.
But before we talk about where the group are going we must first discuss where they came from. The Earlybirds first single Runaway was released last year and announced their arrival in fine style — three minutes of reverb and relentless drums and soaring choruses that immediately established The Earlybirds as the most exciting new rock act of The follow up, I Killed the DJ, confirmed that the group would be staying with us for a long while.
And it did work because that got to number four in the National Airplay Charts which was massive for our first song. Enjoying the success of their first two singles and keen to capitalise on the resulting media attention The Earlybirds found themselves amped and ready to record their debut album Favourite Fears. Enlisting the partnership of producer Greg Haver and engineer Clint Murphy, the two chaps who had given their first two singles such an accomplished international sound, the group headed into Auckland's legendary York Street 'A' Studio for twelve days to lay down the rest of the songs that would make up the record.
Debut album Favourite Fears, was released August 23rd, The Earlybirds arrive on stage with the swagger of a band that has been playing together for decades.
A wave of sound erupts from the drums, the guitar, the bass, and lead singer Filip Kostovich takes hold of the microphone oozing the confidence of a young Mick Jagger. At just 19, Kostovich is the youngest member of the five-piece. After years of playing Auckland's live circuit, he and his band have earned a reputation as one of the hottest acts in town.
Now The Earlybirds' star is set to rise even higher with the release of their debut album Favourite Fears , 11 tracks of soaring pop-rock, including the singles Runaway and I Killed the DJ.
Kostovich, guitarist Michael Cannon, bassist Jared Aisher, guitarist Kane ter Veer and drummer Sean Patterson hail from what has long been known as the hub of Auckland's cultural and arts scene, Devonport. Although Kostovich and Aisher prefer to not put a label to their music, they are more than happy to rattle off reasons why some of Auckland's best bands have emerged from this quaint suburb on the North Shore.
Kostovich had dabbled in school choirs but had never taken singing seriously until receiving a call from someone at Auckland's legendary recording studio, Stebbings, saying they were on the lookout for "budding young singers". That impressed us, because we wanted someone who understood music. And you know, for someone at 15 to bridge together songs in that way was clever. Wed 26 Oct pm. Fri 4 Mar pm.
