Why cena beat lesnar
It was about Cena rising above, digging deep and overcoming the demons that had been haunting him since his loss to The Rock at WrestleMania It also meant a more determined Cena, a harsher Cena, a "thuggish" Cena, one who needed to go to his roots and find his common ground. That was the message Edge sent to him last week. Not often does a match like this one come around.
Cena and Lesnar, a match fans wanted to see for many reasons, many of which have to do with Lesnar's MMA background and the fact others have grown tired of seeing Cena at the top of the WWE mountain. But what we saw in the opening of the match was one "wrestler" as Lesnar does not claim to be, come out and genuinely try to hurt another. Lesnar is a beast and Cena won the match, but he may have lost the war. All I kept thinking while he was seemingly annihilating Cena was, when is the Rock going to come back?
I do not see any way that The Rock and Lesnar do not square off at any point in the next year. That will likely come down the road, though. Follow NargOnSports. Enjoy our content? Join our newsletter to get the latest in sports news delivered straight to your inbox!
This match was better than the previous three but not by much. A lot of the action was based around Lesnar and Guerrero who were feuding at the time. There was also no real build-up to the finish, as it just kind of happened. Guerrero hit Lesnar with a low-blow with Cena's chain and got the pinfall victory, being sure to lie, cheat, and steal. This ended up being a fine back-and-forth affair but it was definitely nothing special.
The match started with Cena quickly getting caught in Lesnar's corner, but after a while, he was able to tag Benoit so that they could rally. Midway through the contest, Lesnar walked out, effectively leaving the matchup. The finish came after Cena hit Rhyno with an AA. Lesnar was in the middle of a red hot feud with Kurt Angle at this time, and Cena was trying to work his way into the WWE Title picture. This was a good entertaining matchup with Lesnar kept trying to get Cena to stay down only for Cena to keep rallying.
It actually looked like Cena had a chance at one point when he rocked Lesnar with his chain. But, Lesnar ended up getting the pinfall victory after delivering an F5 to Cena.
This caused Cena to win by disqualification but Lesnar retained the title. Cena's better effort after getting squashed in their previous outing was big for him. The match finished with Reigns hitting Cena with a spear before going for the pin. Reigns couldn't even celebrate his victory completely as Lesnar made his return after the end of the main event. Roman decided to leave the ring after Lesnar's arrival. It was at the same event in that Reigns defeated Lesnar to win the Universal Championship for the very first time.
Reigns was a babyface back then. Reigns is now a heel while Lesnar's actions against Cena hints that he is also a heel superstar. Apart from Lesnar, Becky Lynch also made a grand return at the event.
